WHO WE ARE

Shore is a technology and strategy consulting firm that delivers well-designed systems, and fresh, metric-driven strategic thinking. Our principals bring a design approach to problem solving that is informed by our experience with all aspects of program and project life cycles.

Because new problems often can't be solved in old ways, our project teams tend to be interdisciplinary. We use consultants with a mix of backgrounds - from business, technology, and design - to attack problems from all angles.

We have a strong eGovernment focus and are committed to helping government services connect to citizens and government agencies connect to each other. Since we began in 1996, we've developed specialized practice areas related to the Environment, Education, and Health Care.

We're a vendor of record on all major provincial supply arrangements.

WHAT WE DO

Our experience across the Canadian Public Sector, primarily in Ontario, has given us valuable insight into the strategic and technology challenges that government services face. Choosing a strategic direction, implementing a new technology, measuring success - everything we do is based on defining the desired outcomes, identifying the constraints, and then measuring against those targets. Our systems design is centred on letting users achieve their goals as easily as possible, our code has the metrics baked in, and our strategic advice will always steer you toward measuring the right outcomes.

Practice Areas

Health Care

With decades of long-standing first-hand executive leadership experience in Ontario's health care sector, Shore's staff offers its clients consulting services based on our experience with system integration, public policy, funding models, and stakeholder and public relations.

Guiding health care organizations through their most complex transformations with innovative and strategic solutions, Shore has worked on projects that have rebooted and modernized health services resulting in better value and more efficient operations while improving equitable access, safety and reliability for patients.

Education

Learning is about networks - connecting facts and analysis to create knowledge. Our work in the education sector puts this theory into practice. We build software that combines network theory (social relationships and structures) with the semantic web (heuristics, RDF) to aggregate and analyze data about lesson content, teaching resources, curriculum, and student outcomes. This helps teachers teach and educational bodies learn.

We have provided solutions to all levels of the educations process, including teachers, boards, and government ministries and agencies.

Environment

Shore provides effective reengineering and software solutions for provincial licensing, monitoring, and laboratory results management systems.

We use lightweight, iterative approaches to build web applications that enhance the analytical process, enable facilities and location registration, and support compliance monitoring.

We also provide streamlined and efficient strategies to support Government-to-Business initiatives, including ways to manage contracts with vendors and structuring accountabilities between government and industry.

HOW WE DO IT

Plan

Our approach is designed to help you get where you want to be. Whether it's building a business case, changing the way a program is delivered, or building software: we start by defining clear and measurable goals. Web design, program planning and marketing, and strategic planning all need to have metrics and goals at their core. The things that are measured have a greater chance of success and we see it as our job to help you measure the right things.

Execute

We don't do everything, but we do a few things really well: quick, iterative and cost-effective software builds; and a risk-based approach to quality. When it comes to building software, we combine three killer factors:

  • user-centred design than pushes usability and accessibility to the forefront
  • built-in ways to measure business outcomes
  • iterative builds that deliver results quickly and allow for progressive refinement of the end product
  • cross-platform development, including iOS, Android, and Blackberry Smartphones

Manage

We'll look at your strategic goals and examine how well what you're doing fits. Are the right business or program outcomes occuring? Are your users getting what they need? Do you have the data to answer these questions? We'll crunch your data, we'll conduct usability assessments, review your business processes - whatever it takes to answer the questions and change course if needed.
